Do they have gluten free options??
The absolute best German food in Southern Arizona. I love this place.
Authentic German specialities ! The food is beyond delicious. Cozy place Germany represented all over the walls! Friendly wait staff and the owner is just awesome ! Loved the food a must visit stop rather on the way through Sierra Vista or just a trip to go eat :-)
MoreVERY delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. Dining area is absolutely wonderful and reminded me of home. The furnishings are authentic German. And their wait staff are friendly and very welcoming. With my very first visit, this has become my favorite restaurant!!
More5 STAR FOR BEING GERMAN FOOD, SELECTION POOR, SMALL PLACE. NOBODY SEEMED HAPPY WITH MEALS. WON'T GO BACK. WISH IT WAS BETTER, LOVE TO SEE RESTAURANT DIFFERENT THAN JUST AMERICAN,
MoreWe went for Valentine's Day. A tradition for us.Waitress was excellent. The food was also.
MoreThe whole experience was excellent: very attentive and friendly staff, pleasant decor, nice and clean and the food and pricing were amazing! I left feeling great and will certainly be coming back again and again.
MoreOur waitress was very personable, and she had a great sense of humor! The food was very good...not easy to find good German food these days. Highly recommend.
Morefood is good , quanties large to go with prices? should not charge riduculus high price to split orders.
MoreI'm a sauerkraut junkie, and this is the best place to get my fix, the food is excellent, the German decorations are great and the staff is super friendly.
MoreDelicious food, very friendly staff. Never disappointed when I pick this place for dinner or lunch. Would highly recommend the currywurst or any of the schnitzel.
MoreIt's nice to have some schnitzel from time to time. The food was acceptable. The schnitzel was a bit dry though, and the taste somewhat lackluster. The red cabbage didn't seem to have apples in it. The place was clean and appealing and the service was good.Your mileage may differ.
MoreAmazing gem in Sierra Vista! Casual, homey-vibe with very generous portions. If you know good authentic German food and miss it, check this place out! Also, call and make reservations as they do get busy.
MoreGood traditional German food.
Wonderful authentic German food! Coming from people who’ve spent a lot of time in Europe and in Germany in particular- well worth the visit! They even have fruit and vegetables for the youngsters! AFAR and Arizona Highways led us here and we were so happy about it!
MoreA hidden gem. We have used the German Cafe as our date night place for 30 years or more. Never had one thing to consider changing. Your food will be the finest that can be made. Every sauce and spice is freshly made. The atmosphere feels like being in the kitchen and part of the family. Now they have moved onto Fry and it is harder to get in, but it is certainly worth it!
MoreVery authentic food prepared excellently. They have German Chocolate Cake but tell you that it is NOT "German cuisine". It was invented in the USA by a man named Samuel German! The Black Forest Torte iis real? Will go back.
MoreBeyond Yum! This place rocks big time. Enough said, I am getting hungry again and just finished one of the best homemade cheesecake EVER. Ty German Cafe
MoreExcellent menu selection and excellent food!
What a treat it was to find this gem of a German restaurant. I am German and very early go out to eat German good as I can make it quite good myself. However I had the bratwurst with mashed potatoes and cucumber salad. Fantastic with a delicate tomato sauce. Not too heavy or salty. ( common American mistakes)Then the beinenschtich for dessert . WOW . This should be more than a 4.3 rated restaurant.
MoreI was visiting from San Diego and decided to stop by this place. I grew up eating Russian foods which kind of has some similarities in flavors. Long story short I felt like I was eating my mother's delicious cooking at home. Definitely a place to stop by and try the food. The potato pancakes are amazing. They are crispy and have onions in them and just taste like the real deal. Try one of the Schnitzels, get potato pancakes on the side with whatever else you'd want. If you like bland foods with not a lot of flavor or are used to basic greasy American food then maybe consider something else.
MoreFood was absolutely delicious. I had the brat burger in pretzel bun with coleslaw and potato salad. Everything came out perfectly and I devoured my entire plate. Staff was very friendly and responsive. Love the German style feel.
MoreThe military brought my dad to Arizona years ago. Per his recommendation, I ate here tonight with some army buddies. We were a sizable group, numbering around 12 guys. We were seated immediately, and our waitress was outstanding. Our orders were taken promptly, delivered accurately, and the food was every bit as good as people say. The service and food will definitely bring me back during my stay in the area.
MoreTook an hour and a half to receive our meal, but food was delicious and they didn't charge us for our daughters meal due to the extended wait time. I understand that the food is made from scratch and to be patient, but our daughter was getting tired. 45 mins top wouldve been acceptable. Temperature could've been cranked up a little due to it being a bit chilly inside. The staff are sweethearts and large portions, though. No alcoholic beverages which was kind've a bummer.
MoreThis place is amazing!! Best food I've had in Sierra Vista so far. Truly a home cooked authentic German meal... and the dessert, bee sting cake, was too die for! There is not one bad thing that can be said about this restaurant. We will be frequent patrons!
MorePortion size was gigantic, service was friendly, and most importantly the food was delicious.
MoreThe food was unusual and delicious. Will definitely come back. Must try the deserts. The servers were welcoming and friendly. Very well decorated, also.
MoreOh wow this place was delicious! They don't have their liquor license so they don't serve beer with your German food which is kind of weird, but they are so incredibly good! We got there just before the dinner rush and they were super busy already. We got the last table and unfortunately they were having to turn people away left and right. If you are planning on going, possibly call and make sure they have a table or call and reserve a table before you show up.
MoreI visited this establishment twice to ensure I gave it a fair chance, but had the same issues on both occasions. The silverware and glass were dirty; the former still had visible lip prints. It took almost twenty minutes just to get our order placed (about fifteen the first time) and the waitstaff was inattentive and slow. The food was mediocre, but fairly priced with decent portions. This is the part that makes me angry: I left a five dollar tip on an eight dollar bill. They then added another five dollars to their tip. This happened BOTH times I dined. I'll completely support local business, even with a few issues, but constantly taking MORE money for garbage service (the waitstaff) is completely unacceptable. I will not be giving them a third chance.
MoreVery authentic, delicious, homemade German food. Wide menu selections. Anyone who has ever lived in Germany or who grew up in a German or Eastern European family will feel at home here. In fact, it's a very homey place, so everyone will feel at home. German meatball entree is perfectly spiced and the onion gravy is wonderful. Portions are generous with plates overflowing. Why only 4 stars? Because my food was delivered lukewarm. Such a disappointment because it could have been a very memorable meal. You will enjoy the German Cafe. I'm definitely going back someday soon.
MoreFood is great. Amazing desserts. Service isn't always great or even good but the food is worth it. Just ensure you have patience.
MoreWe haven't been to The German Cafe in quite some time. Dont know when or if we will go again. My wife was looking forward to some good German food, she spent some tim in Germany when she was a teen. The food was okay but the service was slow. The younger waitress just sat there unless she had to, at least the older waitress was trying.
MoreHad a really nice tasty flavorful nutritious meals. Appearance as served full plates were very tasteful looking at presentation of each being served. Desert was a cherry cheese cake with whip cream cut quiet adequate for two to enjoy after our delicious meals thoroughly consumed.Comfortable nice atmosphere and service.
MoreThis place is my preferred one. I visit a lot of restaurants but to this restaurant I constantly return again and again. The crew is very receptive and the food they offer is so yummy. I would always prefer to have a decent dinner in this restaurant. Highly recommended.
MoreA great afternoon lunch experience overall. We arrived at 1330 hrs, after the lunch rush. It took a while to get our meal but it was worth the wait. A great dessert variety. The Black Forest Cake was an excellent choice. The staff projected a friendly and accommodation attitude to all the patrons dinning. The inside was comfortable and well decorated.
MoreVery nice cafe. Food was well prepared and service was nice. This is a relaxed and casual place for some good German food choices.
MoreThe photo doesn't make it justice. I ate half of it before I take a photo. Amazing food and wonderful people. The service was amazing and the waitress was friendly and helpful. Always with a smile and very patient with our order. Moreover the food was even better than the ones I had in Berlin! Totally recommend the place.
MoreGone twice with the family over the past couple of months and have loved the food and experience both times. Even impressed my five-year-old.
MoreAlthough the wait was a little long but well worth it! I had a bowl of goulash and potato pancakes which were perfect proportions. I’ve been to their older location in 2016 and decided to revisit, only to find they relocated to a bigger building. I plan to return once more when I have an opportunity to visit Sierra Vista!
MoreVery good German food. I had the chicken cordon blue, the cranberry sauce is a good addition. The cheesecake was awesome!!
MoreDelicious food. Great customer service. Super atmosphere. Scrumptious dessert.
MoreVery good German food! The variety of dishes varies from Schnitzel Noodles to Bratwurst or one of my favorites a Rueben Sandwich on a pretzel bun, delicious! It's fun how the waitresses dress in old world German style tops or dresses...adds to the experience! And my coffee or tea always comes with a 'biscuit' or cookie.❤ I used to love the old location, it felt more like an old German "Gast Haus" eatery. The new location is fine & is larger but feels more modern with bright lighting. Reminds me of a school cafeteria.😒 Still, it's a favorite dinner spot in Sierra Vista, especially busy on Friday & Saturday nights.
MoreFood was fantastic, but service for the 3 of us took almost 2 hours. Kitchen is very slow!
MoreWonderful small home town restaurant that serves great German dishes and Desserts.to.die.for!
MoreWe really wanted to like this little place, but alas it wasnt meant to be. When we received our drinks, one of the glasses still had lipstick on it and had pieces if something floating in the water. We sent it back ☹ We ordered a schnitzel sandwich without the onions on the side, but when it came it had onions. The taste was bland and not reminiscent of any schnitzel we had ever had. We also ordered a curry wurst which had an odd almost boiled texture in a runny tomato curry sauce. I am part German, and I had so hoped this would be a fabulous little restaurant, but unfortunately I wont be back !
MoreMy father made a lot of German dishes ( he wasn't German, he just enjoyed the food). Sadly he neglected schnitzel! If the schnitzel at the German Cafe is standard, I couldn't survive "amazing" schnitzel. The Swedish schnitzel was amazing. The pork loin is tender as advertised covered with super thin ham and topped with fried eggs. I wasn't sure what I was tasting when I got to the potatoes! I've never tasted such tangy and savory spuds! The cole slaw was the only thing that didn't shock me. It's very good but at least I've had very good slaw before. Every bite of this meal was a celebration. I can't remember the last time recently that I left a restaurant so pleased with a meal. Look at your calendar and plan going on a Tuesday because Tuesday night is schnitzel night at the German Cafe. All schnitzel is around $11.00 on Tuesdays.Oh, good service and nice ambiance? They've got that too!! Every night!
MoreThe service was excellent!. The food was very good and served hot. We shared a beesting cake which was outta this world good. Prices are good and the portion sizes are generous.
MoreThe menu offers a wide variety of authentic German cuisine. We enjoyed the goulash soup, which was hearty, full of meat, veggies, and not at all fatty. My schnitzel was perfect. The German potato salad was a large serving of German comfort food. My wife got one of these several sausage dishes, and loved it. Having made several trips lately to German-speaking Europe, this restaurant is the real deal! Will be back! Don't miss their desserts. Did German chocolate cake was moist large, and succulent! There are several different cakes which are baked on-site.
MoreEverything german here is spectacular. I got schnitzel and potato pancakes both were phenomenal. Highly recommend it if your looking for something different.
MoreDelicious. The deserts were amazing too! The cake and coffee specials are awesome.
MoreWe were in the area, and had read the reviews online. I had not had German food since leaving the military in the 80s. Let me say the food and the service lives up to the reviews. We will put this into one of the top 10 places we have eat at. Thank you for a wonderful meal and great service
